Description
Do you need a distance learning option for your next GRAVITY lab? This no-prep GET A GRIP ON GRAVITY LAB INVESTIGATION is perfect for online or in-the-classroom learning. Help your students understand mass and its effect on gravity with this engaging, print-and-go investigation. “Get a Grip on Gravity” requires your students to calculate their weight at different locations on Earth as well as on 7 other planets.
They will then use these calculations to answer two essential questions:
►What effect does gravity have on a person’s weight?
►Does gravity affect how far a person can jump?
Each of the two activities requires students to calculate their weight at different locations and use this data to answer probing questions at various DOK levels! The second activity requires students to get up and moving as they measure the distance that they can jump on Earth and then calculate how far they will be able to jump in other locations around the universe. This is a GREAT way to introduce gravity or can be effective as a post teaching activity. Either way, your students are sure to love participating in this investigation.
I have included a printable and digital version of this resource. *Note: the digital version will come in the form of a Google Slides document.
